Financial Aid

City Seminary of Sacramento seeks to provide a sound, biblical, theological education to all qualified candidates for the ministry and to those who seek to improve their understanding of God's Word. Although scholarship funds—which are supplied by the generous contributions of local churches, church members and City Seminary sponsored events—are limited, it is the goal of City Seminary that all those who desire to enroll in classes for credit may do so, irrespective of financial ability. Please submit the online "Financial Aid Form" or fill out and mail the appropriate downloadable (PDF) forms. A member of the Financial Aid Committee will contact you.

Mission to the City Scholarships

In order to qualify for a "Mission to the City" scholarship, a candidate must:

  • Be recommended by his pastor or church governing body
  • Agree to remain under the authority of his local church
  • Be a resident of the Sacramento region
  • Plan to pursue a degree
  • Agree to be open, upon graduation, to a call to the preaching ministry in the Sacramento area from his local church or denomination (a call which, obviously, may or may not materialize)
  • Agree to diligently attend scheduled classes (no more than 2 unexcused absences per course)

The candidate's pastor or governing board must also agree to supervise the student's seminary education, to the end that he may be properly prepared to minister in the denomination or church body that has served as his sponsor. If the applicant is already serving in the pastorate, application should be made for a "Ministerial Scholarship."

Ministerial Scholarships

In order to qualify for a Ministerial Scholarship a candidate must:

  • Be recommended by his pastor or church governing body
  • Agree to remain under the authority of his local church
  • Agree to diligently attend scheduled classes (no more than 2 unexcused absences per course)

Those already ordained to the ministry agree to remain under the oversight of the ordaining body, or the governing entity of the church in which the applicant serves.

In order to qualify for a General Aid Scholarship a candidate must:

  • Be recommended by his pastor or church governing body

Note:

  1. Scholarship aid programs range from $225 to $2,700 per semester.
  2. If two or more classes in a course are missed without excuse, one-half of the scholarship amount must be repaid.
  3. Scholarships will be forfeited if student changes from credit to audit.
  4. If a student with scholarship aid drops out or does not complete the course work, then payment will be required in accordance with the "Withdrawal from Classes" policy as listed in the catalog.
  5. You can complete an online form or download the Financial Aid Form.
